A trip to Alaska. He wanted to propose under the northern lights, but they didn’t appear while we were there.

The northern lights and each other

5 years

How would you describe your overall wedding experience?

It was ok. The day didn’t turn out exactly how we had hoped for, but it was a magical night.

What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding

The only thing that matters is who you’re marrying. Also make sure you stay true to who you are. Make sure to review things with your coordinator and DJ.

What photography-related advice would you provide to a couple?

Listen to your photographer. Relax and don’t forget to lengthen your neck

Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one?

My dress was from the Pearl Bridal Boutique in Holyoke, MA I kept comparing every other dress to it. I was a little disappointed in the tailoring. I expressed a specific concern regarding the initial fit of the dress and was reassured it would be resolved and it never was. It made things uncomfortable during the wedding and I think I already saw it affecting the pictures when we saw the slide show

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?

You and Lesley were a highlight of the day. Lesley made the atmosphere very comfortable and your work is stunning. Lesley had a connection with the northern lights and actually showed me them.

Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell me why or why not!

I enjoyed the first look. We had a delay in the ceremony due to an accident on the highway. Luckily we had done a first look so we were able to spend some time together during that period .

Any tips on how to prepare for the wedding photos?

Stay calm.

Do you have any tips about preparing for your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently?

I don’t know. Be more organized or have someone be in charge for you. Try and have everyone present while taking group photos, even if they aren’t in those photos.

Any tips on what to bring?

A bridal emergency kit.

Rachel Newton ; Hair Comes the Bride; Hair Stylist; 2797 Boston Road, Wilbraham, MA 01095 Rachel was so attentive and easy going. She was always quick to get back to me and made me feel beautiful. I’m not the easiest person with my hair and I truly felt good having her there.

Valerie Hansen; Frosted Swirl Cupcakes; Westfield, MA Valerie’s cupcakes were delicious and her presentation was beautiful.

The Pearl Bridal Boutique was filled with fantastic people. I enjoyed my overall experience at that shop.

What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome?

I was anxious that my dress wouldn’t fit, the venue wouldn’t look how I wanted to, and the colors wouldn’t go together. I didn’t care that much in the moment. My dress was a concern, but I was so happy about being married to my husband that the other things didn’t matter.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to other couples for planning their wedding?

Take a breath because it gets crazy the last few weeks. Rely on each other and don’t let anyone talk to you into doing something that isn’t you.
