Questions to ask wedding photographer2022-04-11T16:07:08+00:00

Questions to ask a wedding photographer

What is your style of photographing and how would you describe your personality?2022-04-11T16:11:19+00:00

I actually switch between candid or photojournalistic style to a more directive style depending on what part of the day I am photographing.

During the getting ready I might give as much direction as to where to stand to make sure you are in the best light. When it is time to take portraits of the wedding couple or family formals I will give much more direction as everyone will look their best with a little direction.

As for my personality, most people will say I have a calming effect in any environment that I am in. If you are looking for a photographer that will make your wedding day about them, then I wouldn’t be the guy for you.

Do you work with a second photographer?2022-04-11T16:16:35+00:00

Yes, I do!

The second photographer is able to capture some photos of the groom getting ready with his party while I am capturing photos of the bride’s side getting ready.

We are also able to capture many more angles throughout the rest of the day from the first look whether during the ceremony or later during the reception. They are also there to keep your family formal photos running quickly and efficiently.

Do you have any backup equipment?2022-04-06T12:13:54+00:00

I won’t bore you by listing everything but I definitely have a backup of anything we can’t do without on a wedding day.

Oh, and I know you didn’t ask but I shoot with the Canon mirrorless system, currently the R5 and R6.

What will happen if it rains on our wedding day?2022-04-06T11:54:21+00:00

First off it has been said to bring fertility, fortune, and long-lasting marriage if it rains on the wedding day.

I travel with a bunch of clear umbrellas tucked in my trunk and we are ready to go out and make some dramatic wedding day photos.

I know it’s not about the gear but the camera equipment I use is built to take a little inclement weather.

If we hire you will you be the photographer on our wedding day?2022-04-05T18:50:05+00:00

Yes!! I am always the lead photographer on your wedding day.

How come you don’t list your wedding collections and prices on your website?2022-04-05T10:53:11+00:00

Wow! Another great question.

While I do have a framework that I go by to keep my pricing consistent. I like to discover what matters most to my couples and create a custom collection that will work best for them.

Do you have any meal requirements on the wedding day?2022-04-04T21:07:37+00:00

That’s a great question! While I don’t have anything in the contract it is truly appreciated if you provide us with a hot meal on the wedding day.

It is also extremely helpful if you let your venue know to feed your photographers at the same time as the two of you. That way we are both done eating around the same time and we can get back to taking photos.

Can we break up the wedding day coverage having part in the morning and the rest later in the afternoon or evening?2022-04-04T21:01:28+00:00

No, for logistical reasons the wedding day coverage is consecutive and can’t be broken up into different parts of the day.

How many weddings have you photographed?2022-04-06T12:31:26+00:00

I have been in business 10 years and I will be photographing my 300th wedding later this year (2022). I will say I remember them all!

Is our retainer refundable if we were to cancel our wedding?2022-04-04T20:40:33+00:00

The short answer is no. Once you lock in your wedding date we start turning away other wedding couples so if you were to cancel the retainer is to offset losses to the company.

Can we see a full wedding?2022-04-04T20:22:42+00:00

Of Course, just drop me a line letting me know your chosen wedding venue and I will send you a gallery either from there of a similar venue.

How many photos should we expect from our wedding day?2022-04-04T20:20:42+00:00

Every wedding is different but on average you can expect 75 professionally edited photos per hour of coverage. So from a wedding day with 8 hours of coverage, you would receive around 600 professionally edited photos.

What does it take to reserve our wedding date?2022-04-04T19:33:06+00:00

After we chat I will send you a personalized quote. Just accept the quote, sign the contract and pay the retainer fee.

Do you have insurance?2022-03-30T16:12:09+00:00

Yes most definitely, and I can send a COI (certificate of insurance) to your venue if needed.

Greg was so calm and didn’t hesitate with his vision for our photos! His communication and organization were absolutely perfect and during our wedding, he took charge and had such an eye for envisioning photos and capturing special moments!

Can we take a look at the photos that didn’t make the Selecting process?2022-04-05T18:58:33+00:00

The photos that don’t make it through the culling (selecting) process are not archived. I do keep any photos that are not duplicates, blinkers, or caught with a poor expression. So you will not miss any captured moments.

What is not included with the editing?2022-04-11T16:10:02+00:00

While I have spent many years learning how to pose my couples so they look their best on their wedding day, I don’t alter body shapes in Photoshop.

If that is something you would like done we can send them out to a retoucher for an additional fee.

What editing is included in the wedding photos?2022-04-06T11:42:31+00:00

All of the selected photos are corrected for color, exposure, straightened and cropped and then dodged and burned to bring out the subject. Then the portraits of the bride and groom my get a little extra editing ie. skin softening.

We are interested in a wedding album, is that something you offer?2022-04-06T16:17:37+00:00

Most Definitely, all the wedding books I offer are handmade in Italy. They start with 60 photos but most couples end up adding double that or more.

How does the album design process work?2022-04-06T16:22:24+00:00

By clicking the heart next to the photos in your wedding galleries you get to choose which photos you would like in your wedding book.

Once you finished choosing your photos I then create your wedding book design and upload it to an online proofing site where you can add comments and approve it.

Once it is approved it is uploaded to my wedding book company in Italy where it takes 5-6 weeks.

Greg was actually the last photographer we met with, and he stood out to us with his calm demeanor, friendly personality, and absolutely stunning photos. We had our engagement session with him, and recently our wedding was on 6/26/21. Our wedding photos are amazing and capture so much. Greg and his second photographer Lesley made the experience so calming and it was one of the least stressful parts about the whole day. I particularly love his attention to little details, such as ring photos, the flowers, the touches that are so sweet and memorable. We had a cloudy, humid day for our wedding, but Greg was still able to create stunning backdrops and vivd colors. We will treasure our photos dearly!
