Sarah & Amber’s Log Cabin Wedding in Holyoke, MA | Photo + Video

August 29, 2026 | The Log Cabin, Holyoke, MA

Some weddings feel polished. Some feel fun. Every once in a while, one feels like both — and like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

That’s what August 29th felt like at The Log Cabin in Holyoke.

Sarah and Amber got married on a beautiful late-summer day surrounded by the people who matter most to them. Their wedding party? Their kids. Their ceremony? Personal, and full of the kind of moments that make you forget you’re holding a camera. We were there for all of it, photo and video, start to finish, and we’re so glad we were.

How It All Started

They swiped right on Match.com.

It’s a simple answer to the “how did you meet” question, but there’s something really honest about it. They weren’t waiting for fate to arrange a meet-cute. They chose to show up and build something real. That same intentionality showed up all over their wedding day.

The First Look

Sarah and Amber chose to do a first look before the ceremony and it was the right call for them.

In their own words: “We had wanted to have a quiet, private moment with just the two of us and were very happy we did.”
First looks are widely debated in wedding planning circles. My take? It is not about tradition. It is about what serves you. For Sarah and Amber, it meant entering their ceremony with that moment already in their pocket, calm, connected, and ready.
It also gave us time to work through portraits without the clock pressure that follows a ceremony. When couples feel unhurried, it shows in the photos.

A Ceremony Built Around Family

The ceremony at The Log Cabin was everything Sarah and Amber wanted it to be: personal, family-centered, and real.
Their wedding party was made up entirely of their children, which set the tone for the entire day. This wasn’t a wedding that performed for a crowd. It was a wedding that gathered the people it was actually for.
The family dance with their kids was a highlight they called out immediately when we asked about their favorite moments. It’s one of those things that doesn’t show up on a shot list, it just happens!

The Highlight Film

We covered Sarah and Amber’s wedding with both photo and video, what we call hybrid coverage, so they walked away with a full gallery and a wedding highlight film that captures the feeling of the day, not just the look of it.

There’s a reason couples are choosing hybrid photo and video coverage more and more. Photos freeze a moment. Film brings it back to life.

If you’re on the fence about adding video, Their experience is a good case study for why it’s worth it.

The Log Cabin, Holyoke — What Makes It Work

The Log Cabin in Holyoke is one of those venues that rewards familiarity. The setting is naturally beautiful with warm wood tones, views, and light that does a lot of the heavy lifting on its own but knowing where to be.

Sarah and Amber actually gave this advice directly to future couples: “Use a photographer that is familiar with your venue. They’ll have the insider knowledge, spots and lighting, to get the best pictures.”

That’s not a small thing. Venue familiarity means we’re not figuring out the light during your portrait time. We already know where it’s best at 5pm in August. We know which corners photograph well and which ones don’t. We know how the timeline tends to flow and where we usually find a few extra minutes.

It translates directly into better photos, and a calmer experience for you.

The Vendors Who Made It Happen

Sarah and Amber had great things to say about every vendor they worked with, and we’re always happy to pass those recommendations along.

Fever Band — Western MA | feverband.net “All of our guests were impressed with their talent. They had us dancing all night.” A live band changes the energy of a reception in a way that’s hard to describe until you’re in it. Fever delivered.

Rooted Flowers — Western MA | rootedflowers.com “All of the flowers are grown on their farm and you only choose flowers that are in season.” Seasonal, farm-grown florals with real character. The bouquets and arrangements were stunning, and they photograph beautifully.

Heather Addessa Hair — Longmeadow, MA | @heatheraddessahair “She was very easy to work with and we were very happy with the results.” An independent stylist who makes the morning feel calm and the results speak for themselves.

The Log Cabin — Holyoke, MA “The setting is gorgeous, the food was great, and they were so professional and easy to work with.” If you’re considering The Log Cabin for your wedding, Sarah and Amber’s endorsement says it well. We’d add: it photographs beautifully in every season.

Their Best Advice for Future Couples

We always ask our couples to share what they’d tell someone just starting the planning process. Here’s what Sarah and Amber said:

On choosing a photographer:

“Make sure you feel comfortable and trust them.”

On their experience working with us:

“You made us feel very comfortable. You were very organized and prepared. We knew what to expect and when — which allowed us to enjoy our day that much more.”

On planning in general:

“Stick with your timeline and schedule. It feels like you have a lot of time, but time moves fast.”

That last one is true for every wedding we’ve ever photographed. The couples who enjoy their day the most are the ones who trusted their vendors, followed a solid timeline, and gave themselves permission to actually be present.

Weather Anxiety Is Real — And Then It Wasn’t

Like most couples, Sarah and Amber had one major worry heading into their wedding day: the weather.

“Our only reservation was the weather. It ended up being a beautiful day.”

The weather was perfect. It turned out to be a beautiful day. We’ve photographed weddings in the rain. We’ve moved ceremonies inside, relocated equipment, and still delivered portraits couples love. But on August 29th, the sky cooperated completely and The Log Cabin.
